question for rap fans! What do you hip hop fans think of this?
How come it’s okay for Latinos whether rapping or just talking to use the word n*gga, (I understand the problem with whites using it though that’s also losing its sting with a lot of blacks depending on the white person) Latino’s specifically Portroguese and Spaniards were involved in the slave trade also. And I know Big Pun and Cypress Hill, Fat Joe and most of these other n*gga slinging n*ggas aren’t either of those nationalities but they aren’t black, if we heard asians saying it a hell of a lot of blacks would get angry. So what’s your view?
To be honest…. I have a problem wit it. I have had some of my latino friends attempt to refer to me that way cuz of a rap songs make it “cool”… but they get offend when I call them a racial slur as slang (Ex. Wet….)
To be one of the oppressed and use it is different than not being apart of that group. AS far as Fat Joe & Pun…. they used it cuz it was a term of affection in the hood they grew up in. Alot of people accept hispanics using it cuz they face the same social issue as blacks in a alot places. Either way, I have a problem with non-blacks refering to me with the term.
Call it bias if you want to…. but i view it the same way as a family nickname. There are nicknames only people in someoens family can call them and no one else.
